The Eye Place
In July 2020, The Eye Place initiated a local community give-back program. Whereby for each pair of glasses or sunglasses sold across the financial year (July – June) we donate $4 shared between local not-for-profit organisations.
The two organisations that we have chosen to support are the Singleton Lions Club and the Singleton Neighbourhood Centre.
Since we started the give-back grogram we have donated in excess of $7,000 shared across these two organisations.
At the conclusion of the financial year 2023/24 (July 2024) we will make our final donations under this current approach. We look forward to continuing to be an active part of the local community in new ways moving forward and could not achieve these results without the continued support of our valued clientele – thank you.
The Singleton Lions Club began in 1956 after the devasting floods of 1955. The club serves our community directly, while also being part of an international organisation that has improved lives around the world for over one hundred years.
Each year the Singleton Lions Club raise money through activities like sausage sizzles, so they can support those most in need in our local area. They also established the Driver Reviver program, initially called the Lions Coffee Stop. That’s right, Drive Reviver was started by the Singleton Lions Club!
At a global level, one of the five causes of Lions Club International is Vision. Specifically, to “prevent avoidable blindness and improve the quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired”.
They have been doing this since 1925. Through programs such as Sight First and Lions Eye Banks, they have improved the sight and lives of millions of children and adults worldwide.
For these reasons, The Eye Place is a very proud supporter of Singleton Lions Club.
The Singleton Neighborhood Centre was established in 1974 after it was agreed at a town meeting that a community aid service was needed to serve Singleton and the surrounding areas.
The organisation provides face to face support for those experiencing hardship. They provide no-interest loans, free meals, home supply packages, educational and self-help courses and much, much more.
Through their work they have directly changed the lives of thousands of our fellow residents and we can’t thank them enough.
Since 2007 they have been nominated and won awards at the Singleton Business Awards for their excellent work.
The Eye Place is proud to be a supporter of this wonderful organisation who literally put food on the table for those suffering the most in our community.
